Why Stainless Steel Faucets Are Replacing Traditional Brass

FeatureSUS304 / SUS316 Stainless SteelTraditional Brass
Lead ContentNaturally lead-free — no dezincification requiredMay contain lead; requires dezincification treatment
Corrosion ResistanceExcellent — resists rust, chemical and salt-spray exposureSubject to dezincification and green patina over time
HardnessHigher Rockwell hardness; scratch-resistant surfaceSofter alloy — scratches and dents more easily
CompositionCr 18 %+ / Ni 8 %+ verified per batch (mill certificate)Cu-Zn alloy; composition varies by grade
Tensile Strength≥ 580 MPa — high structural integrity≈ 300–400 MPa depending on alloy
Wall Thickness1.5 mm+ standard; supports passivation treatmentVariable; often thinner cast walls
Recyclability100 % recyclable with low energy inputRecyclable but requires energy-intensive copper smelting
Cost TrendStable pricing — not driven by copper commodity cyclesVolatile — directly tracks copper market pricing

Stainless Steel Faucet Manufacturing Process

Crafted with multiple sophisticated processes under one roof — from investment casting and hydroforming to laser seamless welding and PVD coating. Mirror-grade reflective surfaces, smooth and burr-free finishes, breaking the limits of traditional round and square designs.

01

Investment Casting (Lost Wax)

Stainless steel precision casting using silica-sol shells. Complex faucet bodies and valve housings cast to tight tolerances — the primary forming process for investment cast valve bodies.

02

Internal High-Pressure Hydroforming

Seamless hollow faucet bodies formed under hydraulic pressure (IHPH). Creates integrated hydroformed faucet shapes — special curves and luxury styles impossible with traditional casting.

03

Tube & Spout Deep Drawing

Deep drawn spouts and tubes formed from flat stainless steel sheet through single or multi-stage drawing. Uniform wall thickness at 1.5 mm+ for structural integrity.

04

Laser Seamless & TIG Welding

Laser seamless welded stainless faucet joints with argon arc (TIG) welding. Weld undercut controlled to ≤0.02–0.05 mm — invisible seams after polishing.

05

CNC Precision Machining

Multi-axis CNC milling and turning for threads, valve seats, and mating surfaces. Tight tolerances for cartridge fit and leak-free assembly.

06

Surface Finishing & PVD Coating

Mechanical brushing, mirror polishing, and PVD vacuum coating. Available in brushed stainless steel, matte black, brushed gold, rose gold, gunmetal and more.

Premium Stainless Steel Faucet Finishes

Stainless steel does not accept traditional electroplating — AIM builds color and texture through mechanical finishing and PVD vacuum coating for long-lasting, scratch-resistant surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose a stainless steel faucet instead of a brass faucet?

Stainless steel faucets are naturally lead-free, highly corrosion-resistant, and require less maintenance than brass. SUS304 and SUS316 grades offer superior hardness, scratch resistance, and stable pricing — making them ideal for residential, commercial and healthcare applications where safety and durability matter.

What stainless steel grades does AIM use?

Our standard production uses SUS304 stainless steel — every batch verified with a mill certificate confirming Cr 18 %+, Ni 8 %+ composition and ≥ 580 MPa tensile strength to GB/T national standard. SUS316 (marine grade) is available as a custom option — currently our DG20653 three-section kitchen faucet offers a ready SUS316 variant.

What wall thickness do your stainless steel faucets use?

Our stainless steel faucets are manufactured with a minimum wall thickness of 1.5 mm. This supports passivation treatment for enhanced corrosion resistance, and ensures solid hand-feel and long-term structural durability.

Is a black stainless steel kitchen faucet durable?

Yes. AIM applies high-quality PVD vacuum coating for matte black and other color finishes. PVD provides strong scratch resistance, corrosion resistance, and long-lasting color retention — significantly more durable than traditional paint or electroplating.

What is the difference between brushed stainless steel and polished finishes?

Brushed stainless steel finishes feature a directional grain that resists fingerprints and hides light scratches, making them ideal for high-traffic kitchens. Polished (mirror) finishes give a brighter, reflective appearance suited to luxury bathroom and hotel installations.

What manufacturing processes does AIM use for stainless steel faucets?

Our stainless steel faucet factory uses investment (lost wax) casting, internal high-pressure hydroforming, tube deep drawing, laser seamless welding, TIG (argon arc) welding, CNC precision machining, and PVD vacuum coating — all under one roof with a dedicated Yuhuan tooling facility for ODM development.

Can you customize stainless steel faucets with our brand?

Yes. We provide full OEM and ODM services — custom logo (laser-etched or embossed), custom packaging, project-specific PVD color matching, and new mold development. MOQ from 200 pcs for OEM; 500 pcs for ODM.
